20x Knothide Leather – 100 Knothide Leather Scraps
310-325
25x Knothide Armor Kit – 100 Knothide Leather
The recipe is yellow, so skill points are then no longer guaranteed and you may need to make the recipe more times, requiring more materials than specified.
Pick up Pattern: Heavy Knothide Leather from Cro Threadstrong in Lower City, Shattrath.
Other options are Haferet on the Azuremyst Isle or Zaralda in Silvermoon.
325-335
15x Heavy Knothide Leather – 60 Knothide Leather
The recipe is yellow, so skill points are then no longer guaranteed and you may need to make the recipe more times, requiring more materials than specified.
335-350
28x Thick Draenic Vest – 392 Knothide Leather , 84 Rune Thread
The recipe is yellow from 340, so skill points are then no longer guaranteed and you may need to make the recipe more times, requiring more materials than specified.
350-360
30x Heavy Knothide Leather Kit – 90 Heavy Knothide Leather
The recipe is yellow from 355, so skill points are then no longer guaranteed and you may need to make the recipe more times, requiring more materials than specified.
The recipe turns green at 360, so you need a little bit of luck to reach 360. You may have to craft it several times more if you’re unlucky.
365-372
16x Drums of Battle – 96 Heavy Knothide Leather, 64 Thick Clefthoof Leather
The recipe is yellow from 365, so skill points are then no longer guaranteed and you may need to make the recipe more times, requiring more materials than specified.
372-375
You can now continue to craft the Drums above despite the fact they are green. Or you can get the following recipe (which is yellow). You need to be honored reputation with the Keepers of Time, the recipe then is sold by Alurmi in the caverns of time.
5x Drums of Panic – 30 Heavy Knothide Leather, 20 Fel Hide
The recipe is yellow, so skill points are then no longer guaranteed and you may need to make the recipe more times, requiring more materials than specified.
Specialization-Quests
Leatherworking, like several other professions, offers you the chance to hone your abilities in a specific area once you reach level 45 and skill level 200. Dragonscale is for spell using Mail-wearers, Elemental is for physical DPS Leather-wearers, and Tribal is for spell using Leather-wearers.
Dragonscale Leatherworking
To learn Dragonscale Leatherworking you need to talk to Peter Galen in Azshara, between The Forlorn Ridge and the Ruins of Eldarath or Thorkaf Dragoneye in Badlands, west of Lethlor Ravine.
They want you to bring them:
- 2x Tough Scorpid Breastplate
- 2x Tough Scorpid Gloves
- 10x Worn Dragonscale (skinned from lvl 45 – 60 Dragonkin)
Total material requirement if you craft it yourself:
- 36x Thick Leather
- 40x Scorpid Scale
- 12x Silken Thread
Once you finish that quest you will learn Dragonscale Leatherworking.
Elemental Leatherworking
To learn Elemental Leatherworking you need to talk to Sarah Tanner at the Tanner Camp in the southwest of Searing Gorge or Brumn Winterhoof in Arathi Highlands, north of Stromgarde Keep.
They want you to bring them:
Once you finish that quest you will learn Elemental Leatherworking.
Tribal Leatherworking
To learn Tribal Leatherworking you have to speak to Caryssia Moonhunter on the edge of Thousand Needles or Se’Jib in the ruins south of Grom’gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale.
They want you to bring them:
Total material requirement if you craft it yourself:
- 22x Thick Leather
- 4x Wildvine
- 2x Cured Thick Hide
Once you finish that quest you will learn Tribal Leatherworking.
Patterns
In TBC, some most of the important recipes you’re able to craft after skill level 350 are either earned through reputation grinding or found in various chests, raids, instances, or zones in Outland. In fact, the only useful high-level recipes that you can really learn from trainers are those in your specialization. Otherwise, you’ll need to find the patterns elsewhere

Specialization Patterns are all teached by your trainers.
