Farming Volatile Fire in Twilight Highlands
The most efficient way to farm Volatile Fire is to Fish in the Shadow Highlands. There are Pools of Fire in the marked area in the south where you can fish. These disappear after they have been successfully fished. You can pass the time until the respawn by killing Enslaved Infernos. You can also obtain Volatile Fire from these enemies.
The marked area in the north of the region is far less attractive. There you look for Unbound Emberfiends.
Farming Volatile Fire in Hyjal
The area in the south is definitely preferable. Look for Flame Ascendants and kill them. To the west in the lava there are also Pools of Fire where you can fish. You can also go west and farm Flame Terrors and Brimstone Destroyers. You can only see them if you did quests there.
