Leatherworking in WoW Forever
Leatherworking lets you craft leather armor, mail armor for hunters and shamans, cloaks and armor kits. Skinning supplies a large share of the raw materials. Forever adds new equipment sets and camp objects. Patterns come from several sources: trainers, vendors, quests, loot and Merchant’s Favor.
Leveling route 1–300: The guide lists recipe sources and access requirements at each step. Quantities for yellow and green recipes are estimates. Before an expensive purchase, make sure you have learned the required pattern.
Leatherworking trainers and profession ranks
In Forever, the profession starts without the usual minimum level. To progress beyond 75, you need Journeyman (skill 50, character level 10); beyond 150, Expert (skill 125, level 20); beyond 225, Artisan (skill 200, level 35). Learn the next rank before you reach your current skill cap.

Starting areas and thread supplies
Humans can find Adele Fielder at Crystal Lake in Elwynn Forest; night elves can visit Nadyia Maneweaver in Teldrassil. Tauren can ask Chaw Stronghide in Bloodhoof Village, and undead can visit Shelene Rhobart southeast of Brill. In Durotar and Dun Morogh, travel to the capital to learn the profession. Trade goods vendors sell thread, salt and dyes. For the Elwynn and Tirisfal trainers, buy Coarse Thread and Salt from Tharynn Bouden in Goldshire or Abigail Shiel in Brill, respectively.
Skyborn · Zephras: Indari Sunseam in Shen’dar teaches up to 75. Emerii Tallgust in Valanaar also teaches Journeyman up to 150 (skill 50, character level 10). Afterwards, learn Expert from Telonis or Una.
Tools, camp and benefits
Camp Tent from skill 20
The Camp Tent provides rested experience when you sit near a campfire, up to 5% of a level. Other players benefit as well. Learn the recipe through the profession quest after starting the camping system; crafting requires 5× Light Leather. It does not increase your Leatherworking skill.
Tanning Rack from skill 140
The Tanning Rack lets you craft certain reagents at your camp and includes the Camp Tent bonus. The recipe Tanning Rack requires 5× Medium Leather, 3× Fine Thread and 2× Simple Wood. You need a separate blueprint for the camp station.
Armor kits armor for other equipment
Apply kits to chest, legs, hands or feet. New Forever patterns add bonuses such as Attack Power or Spell Power alongside armor. Check the tooltips for the target item’s and pattern’s exact requirements.
From skill 300 Artisan and specialization
The Sewing Machine and specialization recipes become relevant at higher profession and character levels. The route described here does not require armor or a tool granting a flat skill bonus.
Shopping list up to skill 225
Estimates for the main route using Medium Hides and Moss Agates. Yellow and green recipes may require extra materials depending on your luck. Belts, hides and leather crafted earlier are reused later and should not be purchased twice.

Leather, hides and gemstone
The main steps consume 200 Light Leather; allow around 200–240 with a reserve. Converting 99 scraps supplies 33 of these, leaving about 167–207 Light Leather to purchase. Of the 310 Heavy Leather, 7 come from step 125–130, leaving around 303 extra. The fixed crafting quantities consume 329 Medium Leather. Extra attempts and camp objects are not included.
Trade supplies · from a vendor
Thread quantities cover the entire main route. The Heavy Hide alternative changes the quantities considerably. Before buying in bulk, check access to recipes from 175 in particular.
Alternative without leather scraps: start at skill 1 with Light Armor Kits and plan for around 50 kits to reach 45. This takes about 30 more Light Leather than the 20 kits in the main route; you will not have the supply from converting scraps.
Leatherworking 1–225: leveling guide
Follow the steps in order. The border color indicates the recipe’s skill color or a change within the range; the step text states the exact color change. Quantities marked approximately are estimates, not guaranteed skill points.
Material choice from 175: the main route uses Thick Leather. The Heavy Leather alternative for 175–200 may be cheaper depending on Auction House prices. Compare material costs and learn the required recipes before shopping.

The list distinguishes the recipe from the resulting item: trainer recipes do not require a scroll purchase. Barbaric Leggings need a vendor pattern, while the new Forever sets come from Merchant’s Favor.

Tanning Rack
You need a separate blueprint for the Tanning Rack. The camp station crafts certain reagents and grants no direct skill bonus.
Forceful Thick Armor Kit
The corresponding vendor pattern costs 60 Merchant’s Favor and requires Friendly reputation and character level 40. Its effect adds 8 Attack Power and 32 Armorto a suitable armor piece. The new patterns and requirements are listed below.
Obtain patterns in advance: For 150–165, buy the Barbaric Leggings pattern from one of the four vendors listed above. The route from 225 also includes vendor and drop patterns. In particular, check Werg Thickblade or Leonard Porter for Wicked Leather Gauntlets and Jase Farlane for Runic Leather Headband. Limited-stock patterns may sell out; buy bound patterns on your leatherworker.
Merchant’s Favor: 81 new Leatherworking patterns
In Forever, profession vendors sell 81 patterns for 30, 60 or 90 Merchant’s Favor. There is also a certification for skill 300. For each pattern, the dropdown lists profession skill, required character level, recipe link and stats or effect. Patterns costing 60 Merchant’s Favor require Friendly reputation; those costing 90 require Honored. Character level and reputation may restrict access to higher-tier patterns.
